Regional Infrastructure and Headworks Fund - Including Regional Grants Scheme

The Regional Infrastructure and Headworks Fund supports large-scale, strategic regional infrastructure and headworks projects that are acknowledged as being of strategic importance to Western Australia, apply broadly across a region and do not fall neatly into the responsibilities of one State Government department or local government for implementation.

The fund aims to support strong investment in regional WA and help leverage investment from other sources for projects that will contribute to the development of regional infrastructure and headworks.

It also supports planning for regional infrastructure at the regional level and encourages regional communities to develop infrastructure projects that benefit local organisations and communities.

As well as funding a range of individual strategic projects, the Regional Infrastructure and Headworks Fund includes an annual allocation for the Regional Grants Scheme which offers contestable funds for private and public organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the regions.

The fund is supporting initiatives such as: The nine Regional Development Commissions administer the Regional Grants Scheme, including assessing applications and determining grants.

Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls announced the Regional Grants Scheme as part of Royalties for Regions on 12 February 2009. View the Media statement.
